Framed Original - Orca Sunrise

CA$250.00

Frame Dimensions: 15.5” x 13.5” x 0.75”

Original Artwork by: Alexandra Lalande

Orca’s in the Salish Sea at Sunrise. Orca’s are the largest member of the dolphin family and are believed to be able to live to 80 years of age or more. The Southern Resident Killer Whale (Orcinus orca) face many threats to their survival and their populations continue to decline drastically as their most critical habitat includes the Port of Vancouver. The decline of their food supply (Chinook Salmon) however is considered their greatest threat. As of 2022, 73 orcas represent this critically endangered species.

The date this leaf was painted is indicated on the back of the leaf. It is strongly recommended that this piece is not hung in or placed in direct sunlight in order to avoid leaf fading.

This is a vintage frame which helps to limit new production and transportation emissions.

Please note that brightness and colouring do vary from monitor to monitor.

All pieces have been made with care and quality.

Great Spangled Fritillary
What a name right? I saw one of these last summer and couldn’t believe the name when I looked it up to paint it! Definite fairy vibes in comparison to ‘monarch’ or ‘swallowtail’ 🦋

I started this Lilac Mourning Cloak in May and began to avoid painting all together since I was so frustrated with it. It’s safe to say Lilacs are the most difficult flower to paint, for me at least 😅
