Did you know Canada Jays (Gray Jays, Whiskey Jacks) are directly effected by climate change? They store food in caches to survive the winter but these caches are perishable. They can be composed of insects, berries or meat from road kill and the warmer winters and fluctuating winter temperature (freeze-thaw conditions) cause these caches to spoil. So much so that researchers have found correlations between warmer winters/more temperate fluctuations and a decrease in the number of Canada Jays. The loss of their food caches directly affects their survival and reproduction rates.
Solution? Although research articles don’t mention bird feeders, I would think if you have a visiting Canada Jay, keeping your bird feeder filled throughout the winter may be helping even more than you ever realized!
The date this leaf was painted is indicated on the back of the leaf. It is strongly recommended that this piece is not hung or placed in direct sunlight in order to avoid leaf fading.
This frame is vintage which helps to limit new production and transportation emissions.
Please note that brightness and colouring do vary from monitor to monitor.
All pieces have been made with care and quality.
